Day Zero
Wait—isn’t it Wednesday?!
Yes!
I just wanted to pop in a day early to remind you about something exciting I’m doing for the month of December!
In trying to think of a fun way to celebrate the Christmas season with Thursday Faith, I was reminded of the “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”
This well-known Christmas carol, dating as far back as 1780, describes twelve days of gifts, starting with a partridge in a pear tree and ending with twelve drummers drumming.
I’ve seen this song used in Christmas games and quizzes—"quick, how many maids-a-milking were given?!”—and heard this song at least once every Christmas season for my entire life. It’s silly and fun and, in my opinion, slightly stressful, but very Christmassy, nonetheless.
How does this relate to Thursday Faith?
Well, in thinking about this song and the way in which each day focuses on a number, I thought it would be fun to find mentions of the numbers 1-12 in the Bible, specifically in the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John) when Jesus was doing his ministry.
So, I have twelve posts for you, each one highlighting a number and where/how it is found in Jesus’ life/ministry, because as A Charlie Brown Christmas importantly reminds us each year, THAT is what Christmas is really all about.
After today, posts will come out Monday – Thursday for the next three weeks, skipping Christmas and ending on December 26th.
I hope you’ll follow along with me on this journey (and invite a friend!)
And if no one’s told you yet, Merry Christmas!
